Neo-Elves
Neo-elves, also known as “Winya'Quessir”, generally follow the same ideals as regular elves. The major difference, however, is neo-elves abandoned the use of Magic during the Elven Civil War. They embrace technology and so are diehard supporters of the technocratic nations.
Thanks to this, neo-elves are a highly advanced race, having cured many of the diseases that even elven magic could not. Their weaponry dominates battlefields when their opponents fail to double or even triple their numbers compared to neo-elven armies. Though they are considered enemies by the WCA, many technologies used by the latter are based on stolen neo-elven technologies.
In fact, much of the modern way of life in the WCA can be credited to neo-elven technological development. Following the world-wide restriction on the use of mana and m-energy, many industrial nations were crippled as manufacturers were forced to close due to illegal machinery used in factories and other such complications. An estimated 87% of the world made use of m-energy and mana in their daily lives. And so, a great depression befell the world of Sia. While the rest of the world reluctantly returned to a more archaic way of life, the neo-elves refused to abandon theirs as scientists furiously searched for a solution. Decades later, neo-elves introduced new electronics and machinery that allowed for the same modern lifestyle without the use of m-energy. The Technocrats made billions in profits, allowing for further technological development, advancing years ahead of the WCA.
One prime example of products developed by neo-elves is CyberGear. The advancements in cybernetics over the centuries have ended in such perfectly crafted pieces of hardware that most factors that help an individual decide on which version to obtain are purely cosmetic. Many people will opt for the “orga” cyber gear, which, in the case of prosthetic limbs, has built-in organic materials such as skin and veins, in order to make the hardware feel and look more “human”. “Mecha” CyberGear does not have any organic material. Some people prefer these types as they feel uncomfortable wearing a “fake” limb, no matter how realistic it may seem. Being able to see the steel and wires leaves no questions to be asked.
In neo-elven society, the obtainment of CyberGear is considered a right of passage among young adults. A neo-elf without a major piece of CyberGear is a rarity and will often be subject to ridicule. Indeed, many neo-elves opt for a fully cybernetic body once reaching adulthood.
Most neo-elves do not believe in Isuviel or any of the other spiritual beings of the Parma En’Ont, and openly ridicule the theocracy that rules the celtic elven lands. Of course, there is the occasional cult, but few, if any, are taken seriously.
Neo-elves generally share the same appearances as elves, save for an occasional metal limb. Their skin is somewhat paler and many shave their heads, as opposed to celtic elves who usually let their hair grow long and beautiful. It is also customary in neo-elven society to get a fully cybernetic body, or, at the very least, have a number of advanced cybernetics installed. Therefore, it is not uncommon to meet a neo-elf with bright, neon eyes, which are a side effect of cybernetics.
