Tomyr

It is a widespread consensus that the last thing a soldier would want to meet in battle is a tomyr on a rampage. They are a hulking race of barbaric, yet honorable warriors. Averaging heights of 6'9" and trained since childhood, the tomyr are a very proud people. It is also customary as a male in tomyr culture to wear a beard. A tomyr's lifespan is twice as long as humans. Due to their lust for combat, they often find themselves pursuing a military career and many end up becoming evocatii in the MPTF legions.

Their society is divided up into clans. Several families may be part of a single clan and will share the same clan name, along with their family name. Generally, a village, city, or even an entire region, will be run by the same clan, and ownership of the territory will be passed down from generation to generation. All tomyr wear tattoos representative of their clan and are fiercely territorial. Many feudal disputes have erupted over clan territory. Despite this, their homeland of Andbran is under WCA control and they ultimately follow the world government's laws. The MPTF has often been charged with putting a rest to conflicts that went on for an unacceptable amount of time.

Of course, the tomyr follow "The Way" to the letter, especially the more militaristic teachings, and modernize certain aspects of it where need be. Though they will use firearms where necessary, their warriors will almost always prefer melee weaponry. They believe getting up close and personal is the only way to do battle. Unlike most races, where women are considered a minority in the military, tomyr women are highly encouraged to pursue a military career alongside men. It is not uncommon to meet a tomyr warrior of either gender on the battlefield.

Once, the tomyr were the guardians of the elven people, but were reduced to being nothing more than slaves once elves had managed to developpe a more sophisticated military. Where tomyr were once regarded as highly skilled warriors and commanded whole armies, they were now nothing more than cannon fodder, sent out to the front lines in order to spearhead the elven advance. The Uprising, a war born from the rebellion of the tomyr, and one that is celebrated annually in tomyr nations, is considered a major turning point in elven and tomyr history. The results of this conflict not only gave birth to the tomyr's freedom and, consequently, the creation of their free nation of Andbran, but is also speculated as the event that inspired the founding of the White Empire. Unfortunatly, Andbran is very close to the elven homeland and only seperated by a small volume of water. They share many trade routes with the humans and the western continent, thus, the tomyr and elven people have had a great many conflicts in their history, and still harbor a deep hatred towards each other to this day.

Tomyr are religious, but not in the same way as other races. Since their ideals closely match that of "The Way", they follow this code almost religiously. Since "The Way" is believed to have been founded by Isuviel herself, the tomyr do honor her, though they do not worship her.
