Humans

Humans, occasionally referred to as "Men", are originally from the western continent of Baradamroth. In 870, B.R., over-population had become a real problem in elven nations and many expeditions were sponsored by the government in an effort to colonize new territories. A year later, elven explorers came upon human villages. The elves were surprised to see the humans lived in an organized society, as opposed to tomyr regions, which were mainly formed of tribes before they integrated themselves into elven civilization, and quickly sought to learn of human culture.

As it turns out, humans had a history nearly as ancient as the elves though they had different religious beliefs. This sparked many debates regarding the origin of life on Sia. Up until that point, elves believed that they were created in Isuviel's image. Upon learning that the humans had a similar story of creation, as well as an advanced society (though not quite as advanced as the elves), many elven philosophers and historians began studying humans to learn more of their own history. This, of course, did not please the Church of Light and the theocracy that ruled at the time fervently made efforts to convert the humans. Today's humans, for the most part, have forsaken their religion in favor of a newfound belief in Isuviel and the elven pantheon.

Though the elven people hate to admit it, the elven civil war was the primary factor in the expansion of human civilization. Elves had lost a sizable chunk of their military power when their homeland was divided in three, and humans were desperately needed to fill the void. So, humans, being a highly industrious and motivated people, migrated to the eastern continent. Some settled into existing elven cities and towns, but most established their own settlements. Though human technology was fairly advanced, they had no knowledge of mana and magical arts. In exchange for protection, the elven people taught humans their mystical ways and the two peoples shared technologies.

However, the elves didn't know about the humans' insatiable appetite for power. It is believed their shorter life spans have given them an indomitable will to succeed. Thanks to the joining of human and elven minds, human technology sky-rocketed and they began to monopolize certain markets. It is no surprise then that some of the largest corporations in Sia were founded by humans, and predominantly human nations are considered the most industrialized regions in the world. In addition, humans have a much higher reproduction rate than elves or tomyr, and their population has tripled since the founding of the Elf-Human alliance, the earlier incarnation of the WCA. Though elven cities were impressive, human cities are in a league of their own. Probably the most important of which is Terrel, the capital city of human civilization and the largest city on the eastern continent. Humans now occupy 64% of the world's civilized territories and elves, with their dwindling population ever since the elven civil war, are now considered a minority alongside the tomyr. The western tongue, commonly referred to as "English", has become the dominant language in the world and the term "humanity", or even the broader sense of the term "human", now refers to all humanoid races, not just humans.

The WCA is often accused of being more favorable towards humans, compared to other races. In fact, it is said that the WCA was initially conceptualized by humans and there have only been a handful of elven presidents in over 2500 years of history. Understandably, elves now harbor a certain animosity towards humans, despite their seemingly peaceful coexistence, and many elven rebel organizations have tried to bring down the WCA in an effort to resurrect elven rule. However, humans show no sign of releasing what elves call a "stranglehold" on Sia.
