Prologue: Gods, Lords and Warriors:
  Chapter IV: Cause And Effect

By the 2nd century B.R., technology was an influential power on the battlefield. Primitive melee weapons had been replaced by ballistics and even some energy weapons. Armies also made use of bipedal tanks called behemoths, which were the dominating force in combat. However, Magic was still widely used. The Technocrats and WCA seemed to be equally matched. With every new weapon created by the Technocrats, the WCA developed a better one, and vice versa. The war continued on and began taking its toll on the planet itself. The soil found in the eastern regions of the continent of Baradamroth had developed a reddish hue and scientists reported strange Mana-related anomalies in all corners of Sia, such as tremors and earthquakes felt in Baradamroth after battles which made heavy use of Mana.

Eventually, even the atmosphere became affected by this. The deterioration of the ozone allowed the effect of the twin suns to become far greater and turned most of the planet into a wasteland. The sky seemed to disappear and the rings surrounding the planet, as well as the vastness of space, could be seen even in broad daylight. The scientific community pleaded the world leaders to halt their fighting in order to allow for further research in the matter, but the latter disregarded the warnings and continued their battles.

The Elves withdrew from the war in the year 50, B.R. Though they supported the WCA, they believed Men were dishonoring their warriors by relying solely on technology to annihilate their enemies. Elven warriors felt warfare had been dehumanized with the introduction of Behemoths, gigantic bipedal tanks, and ballistic weaponry. Several Humans began calling the Elves traitors, others said they were the ones responsible for pro-longing the war because of the origins of the Technocrats. These accusations were not enough to destroy the alliance, since some humans and, ironically, the Tomyr, sympathized with the Elven people. But the bitterness between the two races is present to this day.

With the two forces growing weary from the near constant state of war, a temporary ceasefire was called in order to allow the leaders to meet and somehow resolve the conflict, and possibly train replacements for the thousands of dead soldiers. The (rather heated) negotiations went on for several days. Unfortunately, the two forces couldn't settle for anything less than the total annihilation of one another. When the meeting hall doors opened for the final time, very little progress had been made. However, the two sides had agreed that the war needed to end, and soon. The only resolution they could make was assembling for one final battle. Similar to the Great Battle of Elven mythology, the victor would determine the future of Sia.

On November 30th, 3 months after their final meeting, WCA and Technocratic military forces met on several battlefields across the eastern and northern regions of Baradamroth. Multiple major cities were involved in this battle and most of them did not survive the ordeal, turning to rubble by the end. Because of the scale of the battlefield and the length of the battle, it was seen as more of a smaller war within the larger one. Some battles lasted mere seconds, as results of nuclear strikes, while others dragged on for days with neither side wanting to give in. Some simply deteriorated into mere shootouts, ending with no clear winner because there just wasn't anyone left to fight. Some soldiers would plainly walk away from the battlefield. Most battles, however, were not so quick or easy to end. The more dedicated armies would share multiple skirmishes a day. Some cities would be won, and then lost hours later. Behemoths and Magi dominated these battlefields, toppling entire city blocks at a time and eradicating entire legions with the push of a button or a few spoken words of power.

The battle went on for nearly a month until Sia was hit by the largest earthquake known to Elven kind. It was felt all across the planet. Even the elven nations felt the shockwaves from overseas. It grew so large and violent that the warriors had to halt their fighting. The WCA and Technocrats had their scientists work night and day to solve the mystery behind the anomaly. No official conclusions were reached but some of them suspected the over-use of M-Energy and massive explosions caused by the war were somehow responsible for it. The tremors continued for weeks. After the shake had died down, and the dust had settled, the world had lost over a third of its population from both the war and the earthquake combined. The Tomyr country of Andbran was hit the hardest by this. The northern region of the continent of Anun was torn apart and the nation of Andbran now lies on its own island. Nobody was certain what ended the quake, but the Technocrats and WCA agreed that their war was definitely what caused it to begin in the first place and declared a permanent ceasefire.
